Gas Prices Surging in Bay Area

As expensive as Bay prices are, they still represent less of an increase than the state as a whole.

Bay Area gas prices are on the upswing, according to the latest AAA data.

In Oakland, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.93, up 16 cents from one month ago, the American Automobile Association said Wednesday.

In San Jose, the price for that same gallon is $3.96, an increase of 17 cents over last month.

And San Francisco had some of the most expensive gas on Wednesday at $4.03, which is an 18-cent increase from last month.

As expensive as these prices are, they still represent less of an increase than the state as a whole. Statewide, the average cost of a gallon is $3.98, which is up 19 cents from last month.

The national average right now is $3.54, which is only 12 cents more than the cost for a gallon last month.
