James Nash and The Nomads

James Nash is no stranger to musical diversity. As at home with Charlie Parker and Bill Monroe as he is with Django Reinhardt and Jimi Hendrix, the accomplished guitarist embraces the potential challenges of playing multiple genres with both joy and aplomb. Nash’s broad vocabulary, both as scholar and stylist, has led to a genre-bending approach that has served him well for a decade as a lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for the eclectic and virtuosic Americana ensemble, The Waybacks. Similarly, they make him a fitting helmsman of the NashVillains, a band of musical stalwarts with roots in both Nashville and the Bay Area. Nash’s newest side-project, The Nomads, reveals a more electric side to the eclectic artist, fresh new songs steeped in the soulful sounds of rock and blues that first inspired James to pick up a Stratocaster. Featuring the extraordinary organ and piano work of John R. Burr (Maria Muldaur, Alison Brown Quartet), the powerful drumming of Dave Brogan (ALO), and the sly and funky basslines of Angeline Saris (Narada Michael Walden), James Nash and The Nomads wed scorching guitar and wailing keys with incisive writing and butt-shaking grooves
