Bob Weir's Live Webcast For Jerry Garcia's 70th Birthday Adds Indie Rockers to Lineup

Ex-Grateful Dead guitarist has added artists from Vampire Weekend and the Hold Steady to the roster of the free webcast tribute streaming live on Aug. 3.

Marin resident Bob Weir will join forces with a vast array of musicians on Aug. 3 to celebrate what would have been Jerry Garcia's 70th birthday. The concert, titled “Move Me Brightly,” will be broadcast for free in HD video from Weir’s TRI Studios in San Rafael. 

Weir's TRI Studios announced that Craig Finn and Tad Kubler of The Hold Steady, Chris Tomson of Vampire Weekend and former Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia Band vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux will join this historic one-time musical event. 

Previously announced participants include Phish bassist Mike Gordon, Jeff Chimienti, Tom Petty and Heartbreakers’ keyboardist Benmont Tench, and Jonathan Wilson.

The additional performers are a testament to Garcia's lasting influence on contemporary music. From indie-folk to indie-rock, Garcia has left an imprint on the minds of many contemporary artists.

The state-of-the-art studio has the capacity to stream HD audio and video directly to the internet, creating a virtual venue where music fans can enjoy performances from just about anywhere. Every show at TRI is directed, filmed and mixed live in real-time, making each performance unique.
