Readers Choice for Best Italian Restaurant in Novato

Voting ends at 9 am Friday - but there's more to choosing the Best than just clicking a poll!

We're not kidding: this (non-scientific) poll is NOT the sole consideration of the "Best Of Novato." If you want your favorite restaurant to win, please either leave a comment below, go to their entry on Patch Places (see the list below), give it a rating, leave a review... it all adds up!

This week we launch a new regular feature on Patch, a “Best of” series. Every week we’ll ask you the readers to cast your vote for your favorite place, business, school, activity, the subject of the week – and it will be local, right here in Novato.

We start it off with one of our favorite topics: Italian restaurants. No, we’re not talking pizza parlors or delis – though we may circle back to those later – but the kind of restaurants where you can enjoy the kind of authentic Italian cooking both your parents and your children can enjoy, or maybe even where you can have a romantic dinner for two.

Make your choice in our Poll. If you don’t see your favorite Italian restaurant, maybe it’s in a neighboring city, or , Larkspur or . (If it is, vote for it on that Patch!) If it’s not here, leave a comment - not just a smiley face, please - and tell us what we’ve missed.

Here's the list to remind you; visit their sites and leave a review if you've been there.

You can find each these restaurants in the Patch directory – click on the Places tab on the top of every page, and then Food & Dining, then Restaurants. Once you find your favorite restaurant, you can leave a review, post a picture or even add a video. (See this article on how to use your iPhone to do just that.)

Voting ends at 9 a.m. on Friday; we’ll announce the winner later that day, based on poll results, comments on this page and on ratings and reviews on Patch Places. Hint: The ratings and reviews count extra.

So vote here and leave a comment about your choice for Novato’s Best Italian Restaurant.

Tavola in Ignacio. Locally sourced, unique Italian wines & fabulous service.

Ghiringhelli Pizzeria. The best linguini and clams ever!! And great pizza.
Christian Kallen February 28, 2012 at 02:45 pm
We reluctantly chose to exclude pizzerias from the "best italian" poll. It would have doubled the number of places! Look for a Best of Patch Pizza Poll coming up soon.

A bunch of us just had dinner at the brand new Muscio's Restaurant located where the old Cacti Restaurant used to be. We were extremely pleased with the presentation, the food, the prices, and the interior. I know this will become a favorite of ours. I am not sure if they have made a formal big opening, but they are serving dinners and plan to serve luncheons in the near future.

I agree about Ghiringhelli and it is MORE than a pizzeria....recommend Novato Patch staff visit:):)

Think of yourselves as "Novato Patch staff." We're always looking for bloggers, and anyone can add a review, pictures or even video to listings for restaurants (or other businesses) you like!

Chianti Cucina. Great food, great waiter, the Argentine porteno, who likes to stop by often to top off your wine. They made me a great crab louis at the start of crab season, and also did a great crab choppino to settle my crab fetish (for a while). Their wine list is good, and they're not bashful about portions.

Tavola is new, but it's definitely the best in Novato, if not Marin.

I did! It was spectacular. I don't think I've ever seen one so big. Here's what one local mediaRead More outlet had to say about it: http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2013/06/18/ice-crstyals-in-clouds-creating-halo-effect-around-the-sun/

This was emailed to me by someone who attended. So many Bay Area Residents oppose Governments PlanRead More Bay Area.
Tina McMillan June 17, 2013 at 11:08 am
Susan thank you for posting this. Chris Pareja is an articulate speaker whose message needs to beRead More acknowledged. While community activists claim Plan Bay Area is the answer Chris uses their own statistics to point out how little is accomplished and the real hypocrisy behind advocates claims that it will provide "equity". Chris attended the Plan Bay Area Debate at the Civic Center and spoke there as well. Kinsey completely ignored his comments and kept repeating the party line: Plan Bay Area is the only answer we have so it is "good enough." Anyone who hasn't yet should take the time to watch the debate as it is a real eye opener. Kinsey's responses are quite disconcerting if he is being touted as the local expert on Plan Bay Area. I was shocked by how little he seems to understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOE7Hyd5B40&feature=youtu.be

Which is a fair assumption since my name and face are on it for now. Sorry for the confusion. In theRead More interim, I am more than happy to answer questions or address any concerns about the new design or our coverage of the community.
Tina McMillan June 17, 2013 at 01:03 pm
Jim What is the best way to reach you with questions and offers of help? If there is a way toRead More personalize each Patch to its community that would make a huge difference. Brent would post news articles as the primary focus. The comparison to a "penny saver" is the biggest problem with the new design. It does not favor news which is what many people are interested in. If San Rafael Patch is hosting the Plan Bay Area articles then doesn't it make sense to cross post them to Novato's front page too? Looking for news was never a problem with the old Patch, now finding the news in the middle of the garage sales, ads for businesses and announcements is where many people are stuck. It's unfortunate that Back Bay is the old design. It means corporate is throwing out what was the best of Patch. Is there anyone to write to, to suggest that the changes in format are not supportive of a online news source?
