2 Novato Businesses to be Recognized for Contributions to Community

Three Novato business owners are being recognized for their commitment to the community and will receive a Spirit of Marin Award later this month.

They include Brendan Moylan, owner of Moylan's Brewery, and Phillip and Eva Schlenker, who own Continental Jewelers in Novato.

Moylan's regularly donates to more than 90 schools and care centers in Marin, including 14 in Novato. Brendan Moylan has supported the Novato Chamber of Commerce, the Novato Art and Wine Festival, where he and his crew volunteer throughout the two-day event, and he also holds a semi-annual blood drive with Blood Centers of the Pacific.

The brewery has also helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for the charity event, Breastfest, which provides alternative medical treatments for low-income women diagnosed with cancer.

Phillip and Eva Schlenker, who own Continental Jewelers, are also being recognized by Spirit of Marin. The couple has given their time and money to local public schools and community events. They have also sponsored Novato's Christmas Tree Lighting and Free Movie Nights and volunteered at downtown Novato events including Easter, Nostalgia Days, Safe Halloween Trick or Treat.
