Dog Park Gives to the City

Novato's Dog Park auxilliary group gives another $1000.00 to the City towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Dog Bone Meadow Dog Park

At last week's Novato City Council meeting, the Friends of Dogbone Meadow group presented the mayor with its third check in the amount of $1,000. This donation is to go toward the upkeep of the park by the city's maintenance department.

The Friends of Dogbone Meadow raised the money with their fundraiser on Feb. 18, at the Druids's Hall on Grant Avenue. The event was called "PAWSTA FEED" and the hard-working volunteers and board members served two kinds of pasta, garlic bread, tossed salad, sodas, tea, coffee, etc. The Druids' amiable bartender, Bill McDill, looked after the wine and liquor sales.

The group sold close to 70 tickets to the event, which also featured a silent auction and entertainment arranged by the Novato Theater Company and featured Tim Clover, singer and David Austin, accompanist. In addition, our local Novato Boy Scouts Troup 42 sent over four scouts who helped to serve the food and to clean the tables afterward. This all was a really great example of nonprofits assisting each other to help raise money.

If you own a dog and haven't visited the park (on Novato Blvd about a half mile west of San Marin Drive), you owe it to your dog to do so.  Even if you don't own a dog come over to the park and enjoy watching the dogs run and play.
