Weekend Planner: Stand Up Comedy, Archeology Day and Women Crooners

Check out what's happening around town over the next few days

On Friday, check out standup comedy at Ghiringhelli's. Show features Drennon Davis, who has appeared on Carson Daly's Last Call and was a semi-finalist in Last Comic Standing. Special Guest Nick Stargu. Show starts at 7:30pm.

Also this weekend, Novato Theater Company kicks off their latest production, Gypsy, Stephen Sondheim’s musical about the quintessential stage mother and her daughter who becomes Gypsy Rose Lee.

Features songs like “Let Me Entertain You” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.” Directed by Blanca Florido. Runs through November 10. Tickets $12-$25.

On Saturday, the Marin Museum of the American Indian in Novato is celebrating International Archeology Day with a workshop taught by an archaeologist, flintknapper, bead maker, and an interpretive guide about the prehistoric site at Miwok Park. Workshop and entrance to the museum is free to the public. 1-3pm. Funded by a grant from the Society for California Archeology.

On Sunday, Bay Area female singers, including Marin County native Tracy Blackman, Jill Cohn and Brodie Jenkins gather at Hopmonk Tavern for a night of musical performances. Each musician will do a 40-minute set in Hopmonk’s Sessions Room. Starts at 7:30pm. $12.
