Novato Festival a Homecoming for Rising Music Star

Drummer Tim Carr, a San Marin grad, performed with The Americans on The Late Show with David Letterman earlier this year.

This weekend's festival is a homecoming for a rising music star.

Tim Carr returned to his roots on Saturday, performing with his band, The Americans, on Saturday at the Novato Festival of Art, Wine and Music.

Carr is a San Marin grad.

His traditional American-style rock band played on the Late Show with David Letterman earlier this year.

The Americans have performed with T Bone Burnett and Patti Smith. They toured with Oscar-and Grammy-awarding artist Ryan Bingham on his Junky Star and Tomorrowland tours in 2011 and 2012.

Their music is also featured in “Texas Killing Fields,” a film produced by Michael Mann that showcases two of their original tracks: “Kiss Your Eyes,” and “When the Blaze is Blue.”

In case you missed them, The Americans will perform with with Ryan Bingham and the Wild Feathers on Tuesday at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley.
