MONTE CARLO GOES ROARING TWENTIES

Where/When: Fireman’s Fund, 777 San Marin Drive, Novato, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.-midnight.

Why Go: Because the Rotary Club of Ignacio knows how to have fun and raise much needed funds for local organizations.  Pull out your semi-formal /black tie or your best flapper dress and get ready to do the Charleston.

2ND FRIDAYS ART WALK

Where/When: Downtown San Rafael, Fourth St., Friday, 5-8 p.m.

Why Go: Because you’ve been cooped all week and need some fresh air.  Why not check out the many receptions and  art exhibits in downtown San Rafael?  Pick up a map at any of the venues.

Pricing: Free unless you feel like splurging on some fine art.

DAN HICKS AND HIS KOLLEGE OF KNOWLEDGE

Where/When: The Palm Ballroom, adjacent to the Seafood Peddler, 100 Yacht Dr., San Rafael, Saturday, 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Dan Hicks distinct humor and intelligence serves him (and us) well.  For one night only, he’ll pull out all stops to school us in the ABC’s of musical history. No note taking required.

Pricing: Tuition is $25 GA, $30 Seats and $40 Reserved at Table (very limited)

MARIN SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS SHOWCASE

Where/When: Osher Marin JCC,  200 N. San Pedro Rd., San Rafael, Saturday 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Because the sheer talent of these students will bowl you over.  The reception and art gallery opens at 5:30 with performances starting at 7 p.m.

Pricing: $45 general seating,  $80 preferred seating

MARIN COUNTY ANTIQUE SHOW

Where/When: Marin Civic Center Exhibit Hall,10 Avenue of the Flags, Saturday 10-6 p.m. and Sunday 10-5 p.m.

Why Go: Here’s your chance to check out a cornucopia of vintage jewelry, antique toys, crystal and more.  Over 70 booths will be here.  Be inspired, maybe you’ll find a treasure you can’t live without.
