GARY GATES PASTA DINNER

Where/When: ,  1806 Novato Blvd., Novato, Saturday, 5:30-11 p.m.  

Why Go: Another win-win. This time it’s a pasta dinner, dancing and an auction. The dinner raises funds to complete the softball diamond at San Marin High named for the late coach, and now it also provides college scholarships and helps support to Novato Girls Softball. Wow.  

Pricing: $15  

HILLSIDE LANDSCAPING

Where/When: , 2000 Novato Blvd., Novato, Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why Go: Spring’s around the corner (really). Get some ideas on what plant combos will work on your hillside. Call ahead to reserve your space at 415-897-2169.

Pricing: $5, Garden Reward Program members attend for free.

GALA NIGHT IN HOLLYWOOD

Where/When: , 500 Country Club Drive, Novato, Sunday, 5:30-9 p.m.

Why Go: Shine your shoes and bring out your black tie finest. This elegant evening promises to be fun. Watch the Oscars, sit down for a fabulous dinner and then get ready to dance. Funds raised benefit Operation Tooth Fairy and the Rotary Club of Mission San Rafael Foundation.

TOMMY CASTRO

Where/When: Palm Ballroom, adjacent to Seafood Peddler, 100 Yacht Club Drive, San Rafael, Friday 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: This veteran San Rafael blues musician will make your heart sing with his mix of R&B sounds, rootsy blues and rock guitar licks. Soul required.

Pricing: $20 general admission standing.
