Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Check out some of the things on the Novato Calendar and see if there's something for you.

Friday:

Bring your friends and family for the free concerts in the Plaza today. Take a picnic or dine in one of the Plaza’s great restaurants. Tonight, come and check out Izzy and the Kesstronics, an amazing blend of 50’s rock n’ roll, classic country, 30’s swing, surf and bluegrass infused with their original material and natural finesse. Come on, you know you want to dance.

If you go: This free show is from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at , 366 Ignacio Blvd. in Novato. Don’t forget to bring your blanket or chairs.

Thursday- Sunday:

This is the rummage sale of ALL rummage sales. Believe it on not, this monster sale has become so popular that people carpool from Sacramento just to attend preview night. Lucky you, it’s in your own backyard (you can still carpool if you want), so come on over. There will be hundreds of items plus a patio area filled with furniture.  Some of the items includes, books, CDs, collectibles, baskets, home décor, furniture, children’s toys, clothes, sports equipment, linens, tablecloths, linens, and much more. Don’t miss it.

If you go: Thursday night is “preview night”  and admission is $10 with the sale open from 6-8 p.m. Friday’s sale is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday’s sale, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday’s sale is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is at 1000 Cambridge Street in Novato.

Thursday-Sunday:

Get your fingers ready to snap to one of the greatest musicals around! Even if you've seen West Side Story before (and we know you have), you haven't seen it like this. Wonderful story, fantastic music, superb dancing! Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

If you go: Thursday Pay-What-You-Will Preview is at 8 p.m. limited to the first 50 people in line. Tickets are $15 and $10 for seniors and students. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday’s performance begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are available by clicking here. Emily Gates Student Center at is at 15 San Marin Drive in Novato.

Saturday:

The is holding its annual bike helmet giveaway and Bike Rodeo at . Also, in attendance will be bike shows and a classic car exhibit along with other booths and vendors.  The event is free and open to everyone.  For more information contact Officer Terry Brown with the Novato Police department at tbrown@novato.org.

Saturday

One day. One night. One community. One Fight. Join Relay For Life in this life-changing nationwide event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease and fight back against a disease that takes too much.

If you go: This event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and ends twenty four hours later at 10 a.m. on Sunday.  Find all the details at www.relayforlife.org/novat​oca and check out the event's Facebook page. is at 1000 Sunset Pkwy in Novato.

Saturday:

Old Town Novato is having a one day blow-out sidewalk sale! Look for great bargains on great merchandise. Over a dozen stores including , , , , , and more!  Deals on closeouts, overstocks and markdowns. Shop locally!

If you go: The shopping is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Grant Avenue Shopping District in Old Town Novato.

Friday- Sunday:

This free “Novato Space Fest” has artifacts that have made the long journey to the moon and back, and photographs that have been inscribed by the astronauts themselves in order to tell their stories about adventures in outer space. Touch real space artifacts and try on real EVA gloves. Touch a space shuttle launch bolt. A rare exhibit, not to be missed.

If you go: The free exhibit is open on Friday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday the exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pacheco Plaza Shopping Center, 366 Ignacio Blvd. in Novato.
