This year’s exhibition includes over 100 artists from all over the Bay Area who have applied their imaginations to give new life to old, discarded books. Sometimes a book will be transformed into an accordion, a broom, or a mysteriously cocooned container. Other “altered books” come alive with colorful creatures emerging from the pages. Don't miss this wonderful show; it continues until May 21.

Saturday:
The Tour of Novato and FunFair is a bicycling event and family fun day held annually to raise money for Novato schools. The event raises money through riders who collect sponsorship pledges. Funds goes directly to the school (or schools) of the rider's choice. There will be three rides out from the San Marin High campus for riders of all ages and abilities including families that just want to get a little exercise while supporting the schools. Early-bird riders can start as early as 6 a.m. There will also be a carnival with games, activities, and goodies from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at . Here’s your chance to have a great day with your family, get a little exercise, and support our schools all at the same time!

Sunday:
Working in collaboration with leading costume historians and young fashion designers, de Borchgrave crafts a world of splendor from the simplest rag paper. Painting and manipulating the paper, she forms trompe l’oeil masterpieces of elaborate dresses inspired by rich depictions in early European painting or by iconic costumes in museum collections around the world. The Legion of Honor is the first American museum to dedicate an entire exhibition to the work of Isabelle de Borchgrave, although her creations have been widely displayed in Europe. The Friends of the is sponsoring a lecture by San Francisco Museums of Fine Arts docent Gretchen Turner. The Lecture is on the current exhibit at the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, Pulp Fashion: The Art of Isabelle de Borchgrave. The lecture is free and open to the public.
