San Marin High Drama presents Huck Finn

Wit, wisdom and a wild adventure. The award-winning Drama Department presents Huck Finn, starting Nov. 1 and running through Nov. 7 at the Emily Gates Student Center on the San Marin campus.

The based on Mark Twain’s literary classic, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and adapted for the stage by Eric Coble. Set in the 1840s South, this fast-paced adventure is filled with humor and action that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Here are a few famous Twain lines to set the scene: "It's lovely to live on a raft. We had the sky up there, all speckled with stars, and we used to lay on our backs and look up at them, and discuss about whether they was made or only just happened."

For this production, the first of the school year, Advanced Drama honors students Jessie Rose and Rachel Smith are assisting Director Linda Kislingbury as student directors and learning what it’s like on the other side of the lights. Kislingbury had students in her drama classes read the script last spring as different characters to prepare for this year’s play. The students experienced intense character work as they researched the novel, Twain and Coble.

The show is almost completely double cast with 34 students in the production and 22 Technical Theatre students working hard behind the scenes.
