Rock For Good Presents Rock For Japan

Three popular Bay Area bands are coming to Marin County on Sunday, May 22 to present a special concert benefiting the tsunami victims of Japan. Funds raised will be divided up among organizations working with the people devastated by great loss.
Sponsored by the non-profit Rock for Good organization based in Novato, the show will feature U2 tribute band Zoo Station, the premiere Beatles tribute band the Sun Kings and a special appearance by Drifting Sand, a pop surf band that takes you to the beach with hits such as Surfin’ with Britney.
Zoo Station have been recreating the magic of U2’s live show for nine years and have a repertoire of more than 150 U2 songs. Complete with props, costumes, an U2-style multimedia backdrop and lookalike band members, the band’s attention to detail and love of the music has earned them a loyal following of casual and hardcore U2 fans alike.  To say lead singer Bonalmost looks and sounds like Bono is an understatement and it can be hard to spot the difference as Zoo Station tears through fan favorites from I Will Follow to Vertigo.

The Sun Kings are the premiere tribute to the Beatles and led by the talented Drew Harrison.  The Sun Kings has been packing theatres, music halls, and outdoor festivals for a decade. Their attention to detail is uncanny and their energy reminiscent of the joy and excitement felt at a real Beatles concert. The Sun Kings repertoire includes more than 100 Beatles songs spanning The Beatles entire musical career from She Loves You to I am the Walrus to Side 2 of Abbey Road. The Sun Kings ask a simple question: What if The Beatles had reunited in concert? They don’t dress up, but the bands attention to detail, and ability to capture the authenticity and vitality of the music has gained them critical acclaim and respect amongst Beatles purists, as well as fans around the country.  Expect to hear favorite Beatles’ songs performed brilliantly.

Catch a wave with Drifting Sand. Surf. Sand. Sun. Summer. These are just a few of the things that come to mind when one thinks about the band Drifting Sand. "Actually, that pretty much sums up everything we sing about," said leader Surfer Spud. "I get stoked just thinking about the beach and can't even imagine life without it." But since everybody can't live on a coastline, listening to the music of Drifting Sand might just be the next best thing to experiencing the sea.

With lively performances, nice harmonies, shredding surf guitar riffs and entertaining stage performers playing a mix of fun originals and surf music favorites, Drifting Sand are one of the most original bands around and fun for the whole family. As Drifting Sand continues to entertain audiences at beaches everywhere, surfer dudes and beach girls continue to dance and sing along to their surf pop and beach party classics. So just smile, have fun and catch a wave while you listen to the soundtrack of the summer, courtesy the Drifting Sand surfing band!
