Friends of the Novato Library Reception for New Librarians

The Friends of the Novato Libraries invites the community to a reception to meet Janet Doerge, the new branch manager of the Novato Library and the South Novato Library, and Jennifer Robinson, the new Children's Librarian.  Janet Doerge comes to Novato from Randolph, New Jersey, and Jennifer Robinson comes from Seattle Washington.

The event is Wednesday, February 15, 2012, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm at the Novato Library, 1720 Novato Boulevard.  Refreshments will be served, and folks can see what's new at the library.  All are welcome to attend this free event.

Janet comes to Novato with almost 20 years of experience in New York and New Jersey libraries. She is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and this is the first time she’s lived in CA.  She spends a lot of her free time exploring the area with her friends and her dog--and is always looking for recommendations on adventures to go on with both!

Jennifer comes to us from The Seattle Public Library, located (funnily enough) in Seattle; after 5 years in the rain, she and her husband decided to return to the Bay Area and to the glorious sunshine. She’s presented professionally to colleagues and graduate students on topics ranging from libraries’ use of Facebook to How to Best Serve Teens, and brings 7 years of experience working with children and families in public libraries. She’s happy serving people of all ages, but her favorite patron is the gawky 11 year old boy who doesn’t know what he wants to read. She’s thrilled to uncover all of the parents, teachers, organizations, schools, and businesses that make Novato tick and looks forward to partnering with groups in unique and mutually beneficial ways. Next time you’re near the library, hop in and introduce yourself!
