Dominican Student Chosen for Art History Research Symposium
Rachel Castro of Novato will be a speaker at the de Young Museum on April 21.
Rachel Castro of Novato, a student at Dominican University of California, has been selected to present at the 3rd annual Bay Area Undergraduate Art History Research Symposium April 21 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Koret Auditorium in the M.H. de Young Museum in San Francisco.
Castro's project is titled "The Fine Art of Death: Images of the Macabre in Northern Renaissance Art."
She was chosen by Dominican faculty to join students from Saint Mary's College, Santa Clara University and the University of San Francisco to speak about their research projects. Students work closely with faculty mentors to prepare their presentations. Dominican is a founding member of the symposium.

Castro is a sophomore art history major. She has had a lifelong passion for art, antiquity, and history and hopes to pursue a career in the museum field or in art crime prevention.
Also representing Dominican at the event will be Alicia Rocha of Sonoma, a seniornNursing major completing her degree this spring 2012. She has long been interested in the arts and has enjoyed the opportunity to study art history at Dominican while completing her degree and beginning her career in nursing.
