On Wednesday, take a walk in the Indian Tree Open Space with a Marin County Parks naturalist. The walk is free and suitable for kids of all ages. During the walk, you’ll visit several different forest habitats, including bay trees, oaks and redwoods, while learning about the area. 10am.

On Thursday, get a pre-Thanksgiving dinner workout and support local nonprofits, including the YMCA, Girls on the Run and the Marin Food Bank, at the 13th Annual Turkey Trot. Starting this Friday, avoid the rush at the Big Box stores and instead head to downtown Novato. Many stores are holding sales and will remain until 8pm to allow people extra time to shop. There will also be family-friendly events including carolers and carriage rides.

The day after Thanksgiving is a popular day to buy a Christmas tree. In Novato, two places we know are selling are Cousins' Christmas Trees, located at 7416 Redwood Boulevard (open 9am to 9pm) and Don’s Christmas Tree Lot at 399 Entrada Drive (open 9am to 9pm).
