Check out what's going on this week around Novato

On Tuesday join the Novato Youth Center for their annual fundraiser. Enjoy a 4-course dinner, a raffle and costumes. David Suther, a film editor at Pixar Animation Studios, will be guest speaker and will talk about the importance of connecting youth to creativity through filmmaking. One hundred percent of funds benefit the youth center. $55 per person or $100 per pair.

On Wednesday, The Bay Area Science Festival and radio program Philosophy Talk come to Novato. The topic of the evening is “Dangerous Demographics: The Challenges of An Aging Population,” featuring Laura Carstensen, who directs the Stanford Center on Longevity

As people live longer, what does it mean for how we re-imagine the shape of a human life? Should we think of the rapidly increasing older population as a blessing or a burden? And what kinds of changes should we make – both individually and as a society – to adjust to this new world awash with old folks? Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets $10.
