Housing is for the birds near Trader Joe's.

Inspiration for these photo galleries comes in the most unusual forms. On a recent day I was rushing around and a little birdie flew past me inside Trader Joe's and made me slow down. Yes, a bird inside Trader Joe's!

I always have a camera in my purse, so I took it right out when Rina, a Trader Joe's shopper, gently scooped up the baby bird and took it outside.

As I walked out the store I notice a flock of birds — I believe they are house sparrows — on the roof. I stood there for a moment and was surprised at the number of families nesting in the Spanish tile roof.

As I zoomed closer, it was even more interesting that the tile had a raised bird image printed on it, as if it was custom made.

Hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Fact: Trader Joe's occasionally has birds fly in, but the staff said the most unusual creature to enter the store was a gopher!
