Tree Branch Knocks Out Power to Northern Novato

Crews working on situation on Willow Court and bringing customers back online ASAP.

A tree branch contacted a power line in an eastern Novato area Wednesday morning, triggering a shut-off to nearly 2,400 customers, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. said.

The branch was on Willow Court, just off Olive Avenue about three-quarters of a mile east of the Highway 101 overpass, spokeswoman Brittany McKannay said. The outage started at 10:41 a.m. and affected 2,398 customers at its peak, but that figure was down to 466 customers by 11:29 a.m.

Areas affected included the Old Town area, North Redwood Boulevard, Atherton, Bahia, Olive, Davidson and the Buck Institute, McKannay said.

A crew would try to isolate the outage and bring customers back online as soon as possible, she said. "They don't want to re-energize the line if something is still in contact," she said.
