The following is a message from the Novato Police Department:
The Novato Police Department received information that SMART will be moving four large pieces of train rail through Novato this Friday, March 28, 2014.
The special train carrying the rail will travel through the Olive Avenue crossing between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM.
SMART estimates that it will take approximately ten minutes to get through Olive Avenue crossing and to clear the Grant Avenue and Railroad Avenue crossings.
SMART employees will be on scene monitoring both crossings while the train travels through Novato.
The Novato Police Department would like the community to know that there will be traffic delays and no access through these areas during this time period.
Please plan to use alternative routes and avoid this area if possible.
