Record High Temps Reported in North Bay and Beyond

While the calendar says it is winter, many Bay Area residents would say otherwise with warm, sunny weather this week that on Tuesday reached record-breaking high temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

At San Francisco International Airport a 1948 record was broken when the high of the day was 72 degrees. The previous record was 67.

Other records were broken or tied in Oakland, San Jose and Mountain View, where the previously hottest temperatures had been recorded in 2009 with 65, 73 and 73 degrees, respectively.
         
 The highs in those cities today were 74, 74, and 73 degrees,respectively.

 In parts of Napa County, temperatures climbed into the 80s Tuesday.

 Further south, midday temperatures in Salinas were in the high 70s.

Downtown San Francisco had reached 68 degrees as of 2 p.m.

A red-flag warning is in effect in the North Bay and East Bay hills until 8 a.m. Thursday because of dry, warm, windy conditions that make for high fire risk.
