Moms Talk Q&A: How Do You Prioritize Work vs. Fun?

Should homework be completed before Little Johnny is allowed to play in his Little League game?

It's inevitable, especially in the spring: Kids go to school without having done their homework. When the teacher asks why, the child says something about a recital or a Little League game. Teachers have heard every excuse in the book and can't understand how the homework isn't treated as the No. 1 priority.

Parents, how to you prioritize fun and work with your kids? What's more important, that homework assignment, the dance practice or the soccer game? There has to be a way to police all this activity without overscheduling.

Welcome to Moms Talk, a new feature on Novato Patch in which we invite you and your circle of friends to help build a community of support for Novato moms and their families. Each week in Moms Talk, our Moms Council of experts and smart moms around town take your questions, give advice and share solutions.
