Moms Talk Q&A: Do Kids Care About the Significance of Easter?

So many holidays are highly commercialized these days, I wonder if children only care about the chocolate and cute bunnies.

With Easter coming up this Sunday, it’s impossible to avoid all the promotions for candy, eggs, bunnies and other fun holiday stuff for kids.

But even non-Christians know this is more than a Hallmark holiday in this country. It’s a pretty darn big deal for those of many faiths and arguably way more meaningful than Christmas.

The question for parents: Do you take the opportunity on such religious holidays to teach your children about the meaning of the date even if you’re not religious? And if you are religious, do you discuss with your kids the confusing commercial aspects of Easter (Bunnies? Chocolate? Eggs?) vs. the holy aspects?
