Memorial Walk for Hailey Ratliff Set For Sunday Morning
Everyone is invited to a fundraiser event to support the family of a 12-year-old girl killed while crossing a Novato street.
Driven by compassion, a few local moms have set up a memorial walk Sunday morning to honor Hailey Ratliff, the 12-year-old Novato girl who was killed Sept. 27 while biking across a street on a ride home from school.
Event organizer Cameron Hicks said children are invited to make signs as a tribute to Hailey and join the march from San Marin High School to the corner of Grant Avenue and Novato Boulevard. The gathering begins at 8:30 a.m. in the San Marin parking lot at the corner of San Marin Drive and Novato Boulevard, and the walk will begin at 9 a.m.
Hicks said the owners of a vacant building, a former veterinary hospital across from Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, are allowing the group to use the property as a stopping point for refreshments, T-shirt sales and donation collection for the Hailey Ratliff Memorial Fund.

The participants will then walk back to San Marin High to complete the three-mile roundtrip in Hailey's honor.
Hicks said commemorative T-shirts have been sent to the Ratliff family, which has since relocated to their original hometown, Albuquerque, N.M. The Ratliffs had only lived in Novato a few months before Hailey's death.
