Historic Property Sold, Elections, Yelp's Top 10 and Other Top Reads This Week

What got Patch readers talkin' this week?

One of our stories looked at the Top 10 ranked Novato restaurants on Yelp and asked readers to chime in with their opinions. Many agreed that Batika was top notch, but said that Arun Thai, Grazie’s and Left Coast Depot should have also been included. Did you favorite spot make Yelp Novato’s Top 10 List?

Also hot this week is the city’s recent sale of the historic Silva-Kuser home on DeLong Avenue to Novato resident Elayne Miller for just $11,000. The transaction raised eyebrows among some readers who wondered why the city did not list the property and why it sold it for such a low price. Miller is a longtime Novato Historic Guild member and the city said the move would help ensure the historic property is preserved.

There’s less than a month to go before elections and Novato Patch has been busy grilling the City Council candidates about their positions on housing, finances, Measure F, zoning and more. Find all the profiles here. Up next week, we look at who’s running for school board and the Novato Fire Protection District board.

Also this week, Novato resident Marianita Capra was sentenced to two years in prison for embezzling more than $100,000 from elderly Mill Valley residents while managing an assisted living facility.

Have a good weekend everyone!
