Help Blue Star Moms Help Veterans in Need

Adopt-a-Family drive, now through Nov. 20, will show appreciation during this Thanksgiving season.

The Blue Star Moms of Marins of Marin are working with social workers at the Veterans Administration and with VetConnect to show veterans they are not forgotten.

"There are those among us who have served their country and now they face great challenges here at home," said Marilyn Spoja of Blue Star Moms. "We appreciate what they have sacrificed and want to help them in this difficult time.

The Blue Star Moms of Marin‘s members, associates and community volunteers foster work to support the military troops, their families and our veterans. Within the collaboration this season, the social workers select families in the most need. Some are having a difficult time creating a meal, much less Thanksgiving, Spoja said.

"We hope you can join us in the worthy effort, and thank you for
your consideration," Spoja said.

Since 1917, the Blue Star service flag has been displayed with honor for the service member as well as the family that proudly displays it. Each blue star represents a family member in the armed services, and a gold star indicates that a service member connect to that family has been killed in action.

Interested in joining the Blue Star Moms? Meetings are on the first Wednesday of every month at Journey Community Hub, 6979 Redwood Blvd., Novato, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
