What's Up in Novato This Weekend?

Good tunes at Hopmonk, Bark for Life relay and a gathering of artists



On Saturday, be carried away by Beso Negro at Novato’s Hopmonk Tavern at the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center. The eclectic band has been described as “gypsy jazz” offering danceable tunes that are tinged with blues and moody jazz. Doors open at 8pm. Tickets $12. Must 21 years old to enter.

Calling all artists! Marin Open Studios is hosting a Group Art event Saturday at the Black Point Boat Launch in Novato. Work with other painters, photographers, and pastelists creating art and engage in lively discussion. 9am to 5pm Saturday.

Do you have a 4-legged friend that you would like to join forces with in a fight against cancer? Then join San Rafael's Bark For Life this Saturday at McInnis Park. Registration begins at 9am with Opening Ceremonies at 10am followed by a "Survivors Walk" along with their Canine Companions. Closing Ceremony at 12noon. There will be a "Doggie Limbo" Contest and much more.

On Sunday, stop by the Novato Theater’s Open House to check out the ongoing improvements. Grab some popcorn, chat with the folks overseeing the improvements and pick up a vintage theater seat for just $20. 11am to 4pm. 924 Grant Avenue.
