Firefighters Light Up Holidays with Toy Program

Donate new unwrapped toys outside Trader Joe's on Saturday or at Vintage Oaks on Sunday.

The Novato Toy Drive is on fire — in a good way. Donations this holiday season are really catching on, but it's not too late for you to join.

Under the direction of Novato Fire District firefighter/paramedic Tommy Gaulke, the toy drive operations on pure generosity. On Dec. 5, firefighters removed their helmets and put on their elf caps to help transport toys from one location to another for sorting and delivery.

Families can donate new unwrapped toys at any fire station. Businesses that want to be involved and have their employees donate toys can contact the NFD administrative office at 878-2690 to have a toy barrel display at their location.

Once toys are collected and categorized by age groups, the Novato Human Needs and the Novato Youth Center disperse the toys to children and teens in need.

The Novato Fire District toy crew is scheduled to be at Trader Joe's from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, and at Vintage Oaks from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, to collect new unwrapped toys for Novato children.
