Nature for Kids at Mount Burdell-Meet at Mount Burdell Preserve

The pond here is called “Hidden Lake” because it dries up every year and when that happens thousands of newts, treefrogs, and different kinds of insects that grew up in the water are still nearby. The flowers that bloom around the drying pool attract lots of interesting insects, and there will probably be plenty of other animals nearby waiting to feed on all of these tasty treats.

We request that no animals (except service animals) attend. David Herlocker will lead. Questions: Contact David at (415) 893-9508 or dherlocker@marincounty.org. Heavy rain may cancel. Call (415) 893-9527 on the morning of the walk to hear a recorded message if cancelled.

Meet at the San Andreas Trailhead: from Hwy 101, take the Atherton Ave/San Marin Dr exit west on San Marin Dr for 2.3 miles. Turn right at San Andreas Dr. Gate is near the end on the right
