Great American Backyard Campout

Join Marin County
Parks in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) as hosts of
the “Great American Backyard Campout.” In celebration of Marin County Parks’
40th Anniversary this event will be held at the Pierre Joske Grove, on the
Mount Burdell Open Space Preserve. This is an opportunity to connect children and families to nature by
experiencing an overnight campout filled with activities and nature programs. Interested campers should register at our
team page at www.backyardcampout.org . Each camper should complete the
camper information form. Our team name is “Marin County Parks.” Information
about what you should bring to this event, camping supplies, food, etc. can
also be found at this webpage. Although this event is free to all attendees,
donations are encouraged and all proceeds raised will be donated to the NWF “to establish and maintain
programs to make outdoor time a priority, to protect children's health, and
ensure their readiness to learn.” If you plan to attend, please register by
calling (415) 473-2816. If you leave a message, indicate the number of adults
and children in your group.
We
request that no animals (except service animals) attend. Please leave cell phones, and other
electronic devices at home. Meet at the San Andreas Dr Trailhead. From Highway
101 in Novato, take the Atherton Ave/San Marin Dr exit west on San Marin Dr for
2.3 miles. Turn right at San Andreas Dr. Gate is near the end on the right.
