26th Annual Heritage Day

Join us at the park for a day of festivities.

Olompali State Historic Park, which in prior lives was a Miwok village, a Victorian estate and a
hippie commune, will celebrate its 26th annual Heritage Day on Sunday, May 15.

The all-day event will be held at the park, located three miles north of Novato. Admission is free, parking is $8.

Sponsored in partnership by The Olompali People and California State Parks, Heritage Day will offer a wide range of activities tied to the park's 8,000 years of continuous human history and its idyllic location on the flanks of Mount Burdell. Visitors can take guided walks to lean about Olompali's birds, plants, and archaeology. They also can hear experts relate the history of the Camilo Ynitia Adobe and the Burdell Mansion, as well as the planned renovation the historic Burdell Victorian Garden. Based on recent research, the garden soon could join the adobe on the National Register of Historic Places.

A silent auction will be held to raise funds for the park, with auction items donated by Marin and Sonoma County merchants and artisans.

Sandwiches and beverages will be available for sale, and, as in past years, there will be free ice cream courtesy of Clover Stornetta.
