Construction Begins at Senior Affordable Housing Site

Excavators and other heavy equipment swarm in to work on Warner Creek complex on Diablo Avenue.

Heavy equipment was brought in this week to start work on the Warner Creek senior housing complex on Diablo Avenue in Novato.

The site was at a Novato City Council meeting as being unsightly because of trash and debris strewn around the property. Eden Housing, a Hayward-based nonprofit that is building the senior affordlabe units for able-bodied people over age 55, reacted swiftly buy calling on landscape personnel to clean up the mess.

The City Council approved the 60-unit project in 2009. On Aug. 23, the council unanimously approved an adjustment to the $1.5 million loan the city gave to Eden Housing two years ago so the project could get started.
