Cast of Characters Parades Through San Marin

Tough to judge such great Halloween costumes.

The sound of Novato’s fire trucks echoed throughout the San Marin community Sunday — luckily not for an emergency, but for fun.

The sirens announced the arrival of all of the bees, vampires, flamingos and lobsters ready to parade down San Andreas Drive and San Carlos Way in the annual San Marin Improvement Association Halloween Parade.

Residents lined San Carlos Way, enjoying their coffee and gathering family members to witness the spooktacular event. Some found the sirens too loud and covered their ears; others jumped for joy and couldn’t wait to join the parade.

As is tradition, the one-mile parade route ended at All Saints Lutheran Church across from San Marin High School. Participants were given candy and ribbons by the Novato Fire District personnel and San Marin student volunteers helped with event organization.

Dennis Hagerty, Alice Demushkin Dow and Novato City Council member Carol Dillon-Knutson hosted the costume contest, a difficult task to judge because of the creative costumes on parents, children and pets.

The fun continued with lunch served by All Saints Youth Group and treats by the San Marin Robotics Club.

Happy Halloween!
