WHY NOVATO MUST ELECT TONI SHROYER

Let’s ignore for a minute the campaign rhetoric and cut to the chase. Despite all the money and all the boring endorsements of Judy Arnold, Toni Shroyer is Novato District 5’s only hope of breaking free from the present County political cartel and media cartel that have made Novato, the second largest city in the County, irrelevant in County politics and not worthy of serious consideration and respect.

Simply put, for the last two District 5 Supervisor elections Novato voters have been bought using massive amounts of out-of-District Southern Marin money. Until Novato can no longer be bought off it will be of no importance to the rest of the County. The current political and media cartel’s ability to deliver District 5’s vote predictably and duly paid for to the Supervisors Chamber free of any consequences renders Novato impotent and inconsequential to the preferences of the three Southern Marin Districts. Eight years of flaccid representation have confirmed this truism.

West Marin District 4 is politically comatose as long as any unwanted or unpleasant social services are dumped into the “bought and paid for” Novato District 5. 80% of the outlandishly huge campaign fund coffer of District 5 Supervisor Judy Arnold comes from outside the District effectively ensuring that District 5 remains subservient by automatically accepting whatever the other three Southern Marin Districts want. After all Southern Marin paid for it. West Marin District 4 remains pretty much a political spectator happily in a state of benign neglect.

If Novato wants to break free of this stranglehold by the three Southern Marin Districts it must elect Toni Shroyer who is a “get it done” kind of person and not a member of the political cartel or anointed by the media cartel. The prospect of the election of Toni Shroyer terrifies the Three Sisters of the South (Adams, Sears and Rice  aka the three Southern District Supervisors of Marin). Shroyer is completely clean of the leverage hooks of all special interest groups, both profit and non-profit. She is immune to their control and free to independently represent Novato’s interests.

Nothing would improve Novato’s quality of life more than the election of Toni Shroyer. Put a competent and intelligent Novato citizen on the Board of Supervisors and Novato will finally have the representation it deserves. When the new arrival begins asking straightforward questions and expecting straightforward answers it will clearly be understood that Novato is back.

With a dynamic drive and motor that won’t quit, Shroyer will upset the current “Girls Club” that views questions regarding their motives as mudslinging (Kinsey is awarded the well-earned honorary girl status for purposes of discussion) and Novato as a dumping ground for unpleasant, unwanted social engineering projects mandated by the State and the County.

The election of Toni Shroyer is Novato’s last hope over the next four years to have a respected voice that matters. If Arnold is returned to office, Novato’s hard earned lower housing density element is expected to be reversed in a heartbeat.

Before the end of her term Arnold will most likely pass the baton of office to political bed-fellow Katie Crecilius the rabid high-density/low-income housing advocate. Crecilius is a co-founder of the Arnold endorsed high density house advocate non-profit SUNN that has fought against and continues to fight against Novato’s successful grassroots effort at the State level for relief on State mandated low-income/high-density affordable housing quota’s. Once appointed, Crecilius will have the Marin County political cartel’s money and the media cartel’s unlimited free publicity to once again buy another election.

If Shroyer is not elected there will be unpleasant quality-of-life consequences for Novato, and in particular, property values in Novato will suffer as the outside perception is confirmed that Novato residents don’t have the smarts to control their future.

Novato voters must make their voices heard by electing Toni Shroyer.
