Shall We Forever Be In Pension Debt?

Spotswood had a nice column today on the fiscal responsibility of the Mill Valley City Council.  It seems the new kid on the block won out over the aging incumbent anb the City will set aside 600K per year to pay off their pension debt.  This will benefit all parties--the pensioners and the taxpayers--as the debt will not go on forever.  The Mayor and another Councilman voted with the new kid--and walla--debt is being reduced.

Do you think that is possible in Novato?  Do you think that is possible at the County Supervisor level?

The push back is that there will be less money for a Supervisors Wish List Projects--you know things they will get credit for come the next election.

I don't think there is a prayer of this happening if Arnold is our rep!  Toni Shroyer, on the other hand, has made a commitment to fiscal responsibility.  To curtail needless spending and to not giving herself a $10,000.00 raise as Arnold just did--she will be instrumental in the Pension Debacle Solution.

Toni is our chance to start righting the ship where fiscal responsibility is concerned--Arnold has shown over and over that pension reform and paying off debt is not hi on her list.  While she might tout that she has voted to restrict new higher benies---true reform is lacking. There was just a meeting in San Rafael by the County Pension Reform advocates.  A public meeting to explain where we are, how we got here and what the options are to solving our debt---ARNOLD did NOT attend--Why?  She is not interested in saving money she is interested in spending.  It is of note too that NO COUNTY SUPERVISOR ATTENDED!  That should tell you something.  They as a group are not interested.  It is time to give our new kid on the block the power to make changes to our destiny.  We need to take a cue from Mill Valley's John McCauley and institute means to an end where debt is concerned--to set the mind of pensioners and taxpayers at ease that their and our yet unborn grand children will not be paying off our debt.  Please join us in electing Toni Shroyer to be our new Marin County Supervisor.  Our key to a responsible future.
