San Marin Speech and Debate Team Having a Stellar Year

The San Marin Speech and Debate team is having a banner season.   At every tournament the team has attended so far this year, they have brought home trophies.  Recently, at the University of Pacific tournament, their novice team of Gabriella Skarka and Lauren Bollinger won first place in their division.  Lauren also won a second place individual performance trophy and Gabriella won Overall Outstanding speaker.  This weekend at Dougherty Valley HS in San Ramon, the Novice team of Erik Cervantes and Manny LaCarrubba went undefeated and qualified to move up to a new division.  At least three other teams have had incredible performances and have brought trophies home to San Marin in earlier contests.  They include Sumaiya Mubarack and her partner Michelle Bollinger, partners Ben Rasmussen and Peter Cervantes, and the team of Nathan Troup and Bilal Mubarack.  San Marin High School is proud to offer one of only two competitive speech and debate programs in all of Marin  County. They are so pleased with the performance of their young team, already making a name for itself only three years after it began
