Daniel Rosenthal, age 16, Wins $1,000 Kohl's Cares Scholarship

The Kohl’s Department StoresKohl’s Cares® Scholarship Program honors nearly 200 deserving volunteers with $1,000 scholarships toward higher education. Daniel Rosenthal, age 16, from Santa Rosa was chosen from more than 35,000 nominees nationwide for making a positive impact in his community. Through the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program, Kohl's is encouraging promising youth to further their education at a time when college costs continue to rise and parents are relying heavily on federal and private student loans to fund higher education.*

After observing how a magic show brought joy to kids with cancer, Daniel founded MAGIC IS MEDICINE, an organization that matches volunteer magicians with audiences in hospitals, hospices, homeless shelters and rehabilitation and assisted living centers across the country.
