Despite the rains of last week, 44 cubic yards of concrete were poured for the foundation of the new City of Novato administrative offices, which are taking shape along Machin Avenue in the Old Town area. The remaining foundation is planned to be poured by week's end.
With the Thanksgiving break and reoccurring rain events, work has proceeded at a slower pace over the past two weeks. The contractor has continued pumping rainwater from the site to a storage tank.
The project’s second foundation concrete pour was moved forward to early Wednesday morning of last week to avoid the storms forecasted for Thursday and Friday. The contractor was able to prepare and pour all nine interior pile caps.
This week, the contractor will begin preparing the remaining foundation concrete, which includes the lobby area footings, elevator and sump pump pits, and hopes to have these ready to pour by the end of the week. Work scheduled over the next few weeks includes installation of the under-slab utilities and preparation for pouring the basement concrete slab floor.
