The Marin Food Bank saw a record breaking year with the 2011 National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive last month.
The drive on May 14 brought about 111,000 pounds of food, enough to provide about 87,000 meals to those at risk of hunger in Marin. The total marked a huge increase from the 81,000 pounds that the Marin Food Bank received in 2010.
The food bank said the effort could not have been done with out an amazing amount of community and support from 120 volunteers.
