After being open to the public for years the levee between Roland & Hwy 37 has been closed. We have been able to walk these levee's and observe the birds and wildlife in the marsh area and are now unable to.
The recent levee work that included closing off the access area from behind the Roland Theater prevents the public access due to the locked gates.
I have enjoyed walking these levees with friends in all seasons.
It makes absolutely no sense to prevent the public from using them. Similar levees are found at Mc Guiness Park in San Rafael and in Petaluma's marsh. The only means of entry now is to get in the car and drive down Hwy 37 and enter.
