Marin Transit is pleased to announce a new discounted ride program, Marin Catch-A-Ride. This new program provides another transportation option for seniors in Marin through discounted taxi rides to Marin locations.
“I’m excited about this program. It will allow me to get out of the house. Without it I would be homebound.” -- 93 year old Catch-A-Ride rider
The new customized transportation option will enable seniors, age 80 and older to take taxi rides at a discounted rate. For seniors age 60 and older, the discounted service is available if they are unable to drive.
“Just three weeks into the program we have had almost 100 signups. People are very excited about the program.” – Jon Gaffney, Mobility Management Specialist, Marin Transit
Marin Catch-A-Ride Customized Features Include:
- The ability to schedule transportation quickly with reduced wait times. Once eligible, seniors need only to call Catch-A-Ride’s call center to schedule rides.
- When a rider calls for their ride, they will be given an exact, mileage-based price for that discounted ride. This feature gives senirs and their families the peace of mind of knowing exactly what the trip will cost ahead of time.
- Depending on the destination, the discount may even cover the full price of short distance rides.
“This program gives Marin’s older adults another transportation option to help them remain mobile. For some this will mean greater opportunities to participate in the community, while for others it will provide a much needed lifeline to medical appointments and shopping.” -- Paul Branson, Mobility Manager, Marin Transit
