will have an official groundbreaking ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, for its new multipurpose room. This ceremony is taking place during the school’s "community time" to allow parents and students to attend. This commemorates many patient years the staff, parents and students have been waiting for a multipurpose room.
The plans were submitted and approved by the Division of the State Architect on Oct. 18, 2011. The Board of Trustees approved the authorization to begin public bidding for a multipurpose building on April 3, 2012. GCCI, Inc. was awarded the contract for $1,874,000 on June 19 and it is projected to be completed in May 2013.
The project is eligible for a construction grant utilizing “new construction” state funds. It is projected that the district could receive $796,588 in state matching funds.
Unfortunately, the state does not have adequate funds at this time to fund overall state construction projects, and the San Ramon project was placed on the “unfunded” list on Feb. 22. This provides the district a place in line for funding when state funding becomes available.
