The Gary Gates Memorial Foundation and the Novato Girls Softball Association bring you the 16th Annual Dinner/Dance/Auction fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012. Festivities will kick off at 5:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Loretto School's auditorium at 1811 Virginia Ave.
The event, know by some as just the Pasta Feed, raises funds to complete the Gary Gates softball field at San Marin High School, provides college scholarships to softball players at both San Marin High School and Novato High School and will provide substantial financial support to Novato Girls Softball.
Gary Gates Field is still the only lighted high school softball diamond in Marin County. The snack shack and announcers booth opened for the 2002 softball season, and in 2008 and 2009 the installation of the bleachers and the disabled-accessible announcers’ platform were completed. In 2011, the entry patio and water fountain were finished.
Thousands of fans enjoy games played under the lights at Gary Gates Field each year. The field is home to local recreation teams, the San Marin Mustangs, the North Coast Section Championship Tournament and was once again the main field for the second annual Novato Classic Summer Softball Tournament.
The dream of a premier championship facility has come to life and will certainly draw even more fans and players in the years to come.
On Feb. 25, fantastic live and silent auction items will have something for everyone! The "insanely great" pie auction is a blast — and tasty too! Cash donations and auction items are also appreciated.
Tickets are $15 and can be picked up at the San Marin High front office or by calling 892-3161. For more information, e-mail gatesmusic@aol.com.
