The campaign to reelect Assemblymember Michael Allen announced today he has received the endorsement of former Assembly candidate Connie Wong as the best choice for Marin and Sonoma in the State Assembly.
“I’ve gotten to know Michael Allen on the campaign trail over the last few months, and I believe he is genuinely committed to the issues we care about – improving our local schools, protecting our parks, and reducing our state budget deficit,” Wong said. “Michael has shown voters the respect of running a positive, issues based campaign. I believe he is the best choice for our communities in the State Assembly and encourage my supporters to support him this November.”
Wong’s endorsement comes after her considerable showing of support in the June primary. She received 9,209 votes or 11.1% of the overall votes counted to date. Wong is a Marin resident, active realtor, and veteran who served in the Armed Services for 18 years. During her campaign, Wong advocated for better protections for veterans and increased investment in our public schools. Her support is a boost for the Allen campaign as voters begin to refocus on the November election.
As a North Bay resident and community leader for over 40 years, Allen is well versed in the issues that matter to Marin and Sonoma County. Prior to his election to the Assembly in November 2010, Allen had an extensive career as a registered nurse, lawyer and then labor leader right here in our community. He chaired the SMART Citizens Advisory Committee and worked with residents of both counties to tackle critical transportation issues, enforcing his belief in the value of regional cooperation to enhance local quality of life. Allen lives in San Rafael and has 5 children.
