Novato/Marin Babe Ruth League Fall Ball Season registration begins July 21, and the league offers a great opportunity for young baseball players to transition from Little League to high school ball.
Players can register online at novatobaberuth.org beginning July 21 or mail in a registration form, but don't delay because registration closes when the full roster size of 12 players per team is reached. Registration forms are available on the league website.
Novato/Marin Babe Ruth is open to all Marin residents born between May 1, 1997 and April 30, 2000. Tryouts will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at in Novato.
The 2012 fall season is 14 games, with the first on Aug. 18, and playoffs ending the season approximately Oct. 14. The league has two games a week, one game during the week and a game on Sunday. The fee is just $225.
Games are played on regulation baseball diamonds — 90 foot bases, and 60 foot, 6 inch pitching mound (not artificial) and a grass infield. It is the ideal step for this year's graduating Marin County Little Leaguers to develop their skills as they move up to Babe Ruth baseball, and for continuing Babe Ruth players to work on new skills, improve fundamentals, or play new positions as they prepare for different roles when they return to their teams in the spring.
Novato/Marin Babe Ruth is proud of its well-earned reputation for preparing players for successful high school baseball careers. Many players from our league have moved on to have key roles on Marin County Athletic League and North Coast Section championship teams.
The league is also looking for coaches who will be moving up from Little League who want to get used to the new environment. Coaches should call 258-4814 to express interested in managing or coaching, and indicate that on the registration form.
This summer season, the league's 14-year-old and 15-year-old All-Star teams captured district titles and competed in the state tournament. Players can get some more playing time in September and October, and then take time off for other sports and school work, and come back in spring 2013 much better prepared to continue baseball development.
We also strive to provide a fun environment for players of all skill levels. Fall Ball uses three-inning minimum-play approach, and all coaches are certified. All players will get quality instruction.
Games are played at Sinaloa Middle School on the well-maintained Narcissi-Testa Field. For players coming from Southern Marin, take the Rowland Boulevard exit, go west to Novato Boulevard, west in Center Road and south on Wilson Avenue to reach the field.
