Dear Novato Resident and Community Member,
My name is Tony Perachiotti and I am a 4th generation Novatan, a board member of the Novato Youth Center and my 2 year old son, Dominic, attends the Center’s Preschool Program. My family first moved to Novato around 1900, and since then my Grandmother, Father and I have all grown up here and still call it our home today. This week you may have received a letter in the mail from me, asking for your support of the Novato Youth Center. If you didn’t receive the letter, I hope you read on today to hear about why family is choosing to support the Center.
Do you recall that adult from your childhood that had a lasting impact on your life? A coach who believed in you? A grandparent who understood you when your own parents didn’t? Comfort with encouragement often leads to new breakthroughs. This is what the Novato Youth Center is all about -- providing experts in the field of youth development to give kids the boost they need while involving their families in the process. We serve 3,800 youth and their families annually.
The Center understands the complexities of helping youth to become their very best, and offers a wide range of programs that inspire and prepare them for success. Since 1976, this has been the foundation of our work, and after 36 years of operation, I’m often still moved by the success stories.
The only Center of its kind in Marin County, and for that matter the state of California, our programs are comprehensive and far-reaching. Other communities have visited us, wanting to model something similar in their towns. Our experienced staff provide 5 core programs to youth: Child Development (Early Childhood Education ages infant-age 5, School Age and 1-Up-4 College Middle School ages 5-14); Adolescent Health and Wellness programs, Youth and Family Counseling, Sports Leagues, and Community-based Prevention Programs. No matter where a child is in his or her life, younger or older, needing prevention services, crisis intervention, or just wanting to shoot hoops in the gym, this 501(c)3 non-profit center meets each child’s individual needs.
