Speaker: Laura Moss
Topic: The American Cancer…Read More Society 2013 marks the American Cancer Society’s 100th anniversary. With each new advance in research more people survive cancer and celebrate more birthdays. One-hundred years ago, the word “cancer” was not spoken, and we lost almost all patients to the disease. During the last century, the American Cancer Society has led the way in saving lives and has played a role in nearly every cancer research breakthrough in recent history. Today, 2 out of 3 people diagnosed with cancer are surviving, but there’s much more to do. ACS Director Laura Moss, will highlight some of the major breakthroughs in cancer research. Currently the Cancer Prevention Study-3 is enrolling participants and creating the largest bio bank for cancer research in the world. As Regional Volunteer Resources Director, Laura oversees recruitment, training and recognition for hundreds of dedicated ACS volunteers. Where: Moylan's When: 7:15 AM
