Roger....Do you have any comment regarding the City's online "Open Novato" surveyRead More regarding the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) and the White Paper the city needs to complete on this issue for the General Plan Update. The City hired Peak Democracy, Inc. to prepare the UGP Public survey but it neglected to include one of the key Policy Options for the public to choose, which is: "AMEND THE POLICIES AND CRITERIA OF THE CURRENT UGB). This was completely left out of the UGB Public Survey, yet ironically this one key policy was considered the most important issue to discuss at last night's Novato Planning Commission meeting and the most important policy to discuss according to LAFCO's chief representative. The omission of this key policy choice on the face of the UGB Survey should render it invalid. Either there was a clerical error on the part of Peak Democracy....or the survey was rigged so that citizens would have to "select a position" that they do not agree with just so that they could type in a comment regarding the key policy option which was left out. Comments aren't included in the tally numbers....just the "positions" that were selected.... The city of Novato must think that most citizens are not going to read the White Paper included in the public survey and will not question it. The Novato Planning Staff doesn't want to spend more time and effort on amending anything....same thing with the adoption of the new 2014-2022 Housing Element....the planners want to push things through quickly with little question and opposition from the public...and rigging a survey and/or public workshop is one way to do that....it's not illegal, just unethical.

Baxter - great idea to mention the public workshop. I added it to the "week ahead".Read More Normally, I only included items for the upcoming week so the Monday workshop would appear in my blog next week, but that isn't much time to help get the word out. I will try to include more events in the future.

Mark - a capital investment in synthetic turf fields is actually one that I would support and I tendRead More to question a lot of Measure F expenditures. The litmus test I look at is whether or not the expenditure will just be one-time or will it have a long term benefit. For the fields, it was estimated that the city could save/generate $130k/year with a field through increase rental revenue and reduced maintenance and water expenses. The fields last for 10+ years so it would pay for itself and at the same time, benefit the community. Same thing with converting the remaining street lights to LED. The investment will pay for itself and then some.

I read yesterday that Ignacio had a special election on April 8 for some parcel tax, is thatRead More correct? And, if so, why do these things all need their own special elections? And not just Novato! https://www.google.com/#q=%22measure+a%22+%22april+8%22

I've been fighting bullies all my life, mostly on behalf of other people that were to weak or scaredRead More or whatever, to fight back. Only extremely violent illegals are sent home? Being a convicted pimp should be enough of a crime toRead More send that criminal back to his home country. Why are our local/state laws so wimpy when it comes to handling bad illegals?
novato 3per April 21, 2014 at 10:38 am
Thank you for asking Roger. There are several layers to this problem. At the top we have a PresidentRead More and appointed DHS and ICE chiefs who are extremely liberal in regards to Immigration law enforcement. They focus more on ways to keep aliens in the United states through "prosecutorial discretion" dream act and deferred removal. Their motivation is the " browning of America" and indoctrination of future socialists. Criminal alien gang bangers are routinely offered asylum, U visas and other types of relief, so they can stay here and reoffend while we pay for their existence and policing of their revolving door of criminal and court activity, a heavy burden on our system. The liberal California 9th district court makes removal of criminal aliens even tougher by applying the strictest standards for removal. The burden they impose on the Federal Immigration attorneys to make a successful removal case is often unreasonable and expensive. The alien will often be granted relief and be allowed to stay until their criminal convictions are worse. Recidivism is extremely high for these types. Your liberal California congress and governor Brown came up with ths AB4 "trust act" this year which means county jail will only honor an ICE detainer on the most violent offenders. Everyone else gets released back into the community now, (even if they already have received a Federal Immigration order of removal and have been deported before), instead of coming to ICE custody to be removed or put into removal proceedings. Now your president and la raza coalitions are trying to use the " splitting families apart" argument to keep more criminal aliens here. Common sense would dictate that one should not start a family in a land where you have no right to be. They have the option to take the family when they go. Everyone has family, but not everyone has a right to enter our country illegally or violate their permanent resident status by becoming a criminal, and have the audacity to expect us to put up with it and pay for their entitlements on top of it all. This why I think some who support this really just want to see this country fall. We cant sponsor this anymore. Were already in enough trouble with our own national debt, let alone covering millions from south of the border.
