That’s all you need to text to the number 95248 once a day through Dec. 19. Why? Because each day you text that message to that number, you’re voting for San Ramon Elementary to win a grant between $25,000 and $50,000 to be used for the purchase of shade structures.

You also can have a second vote each day if you go register and vote here. If you don’t easily find San Ramon on the page, search for “Novato” under the city. Register, and then go back every morning, right after you finish reading the Patch, or any other time you’re online, and vote again. It’s that easy.

You can read more about what San Ramon is hoping to win grant money for in the screenshot I’ve uploaded. Or you can “view details” when you’re voting for the school online.

What better time of year to grab a hot cup of coffee, cocoa or tea at Peet’s Coffee and support Novato Youth Center at the same time. Novato Youth Center has been designated as the beneficiary of the 2012 Holiday Giving Program by both Novato Peet’s Coffee and Tea locations (1701 Grant Ave. and 5800 Nave Dr., Suite M, in Hamilton). Donations up to $1,000 at each location between Dec. 17 and Dec. 24 are earmarked for NYC. So drink, tip and give at Peet’s. As a thank you, on Dec. 24, Peet’s will be pouring free coffee and tea, and all in-lieu-of-purchase contributions that day goes to NYC. I could use a nice cup of hot chocolate. Couldn’t you?
